Something I have realized while decorating my home is that it can take a lot of different aspects to make a space come together such as color, texture, fabric, etc. I have to admit that I have been guilty of looking for the “secret” or the “formula” for decorating. But the truth is that decorating is trial & error. You have to do some playing around to find the right fit. Every space is unique and requires a different approach. The takeaway is, “Do not be afraid to get it wrong.” Move things around a couple of times, it will bring you closer to your end goal.
While decorating this buffet table, I relied on Pinterest for inspiration to guide me in which direction to go. Once I gain a sense of direction, I create a mood board with everything I plan on adding to the space.
What are buffet tables for?
Buffets or sideboards are tables used in dining rooms to display serving dishes, to use as storage, and can be used to serve food while hosting. Naturally, you want to add pieces that are going to help you host and serve a purpose while at the dining table.
Once the mood board is done, it’s time to get to work! Remember that the mood board is a guide, you will still go through the trial and error of seeing what sticks and what does not. Ultimately, have fun with the process and take your time. Perfecting a project does not always have a timeline.
